Bangkok, Thailand

After all the shopping yesterday, we did the typical-tourist-thing today, since AN & AD have never been.

But at Grand Palace, we were treated to a sight of the guards "changing shifts". K and I sure missed this the last time.

They literally stopped traffic, marching in from someplace opposite the Grand Palace entrance.

AN had also wanted to visit the Prison. LOL. Don't ask why. Maybe it was the Political Science undergrad in her. Luckily my veto was dittoed by the other two PS-undergrads. ;oD

Sukhothai, Thailand

It's such a hot, hot, hot day! But it was a day for a class excursion. I've never before appreciated the trees that kept Singapore shady!

I think I've been at Sukhothai before during the class trip with the JCmates back in '97, but was still intersting to see the old relics. Just wished we didn't have so much time here. Phom melting! Phom melting!

Chiangmai, Thailand

The weather is much much colder here. Colder still since it's beenr aining. But it's such an amazingly beautiful place. Thinks Mummy would have gone crazy admiring all the beautiful flowers, especially at the beautifully landscaped Queen Mother's palace.

Something funny happened while we were touring the palace. We were tailing some other Thai tour-group. Each absorbed in one big great hall when we suddenly realised it has gone eeriely quiet.

Turned to see the tour-group have all knelt in the big rug in the middle of the huge hall and was bowing to a picture of the Queen Mother. We all looked around uncertainly, before converging to sit on the rug too. And kept very quiet hoping we are not offending anyone by not bowing. LOL.

We then proceeded to an Elephant's Farm. Cool tricks that the elephants could do, but was so said that they were all in chains. So this was the touristification thing Kyle & Prof Miksic were on about.
