Bali, Indonesia - Day IV
Confirmed with the nice bellboy-who-resembled-an-Indon-actor whom we met on our first night that the memorial was in the direction I thought it was at. I was right, but me thinks NH and ZZ got rather worried when we walked and walked and walked and we still weren't there.
Was sad seeing the rows and rows of names listed at the memorial. There was one sole bunch of flowers for the victims that someone left there.

Returned to the hotel for final packing of last-minute stuff that we bought. Finally got some table coasters for Sis, which was difficult to stuff into my backpack, so finally had to just carry it.
We were greeted by a different tour-guide today. The ride to the airport was rather short. Thought of getting one of the cloth carry-bags to stuff my plastic-bag of stuff, but figured the rattan bag would be better. ZZ meanwhile went crazy getting more T-shirts. LOL.
Went around looking for a food establishment and found none. Then discovered it should be upstairs. Paid up airport tax, then had a panicky moment at the passport check when the officer counldn't find my entry stamp. Flipped to the page with the stamp for my Access Card and couldn't find the stamp anymore. Was I dreaming??
Proceeded to find a place to eat. Got distracted by a CD-shop and a bookshop. Found nothing much so decided to go back to where we saw a MacDonald's kiosk. LOL. Discovered the golden arches of MacD's only have one arch. Reflecting the limited menu there? LOL. So decided to go back to a cafe I'd seen. Lunched on some pastries. ZZ, the hungriest one, ended up eating nothing coz nothing on the menu appealed to her.
Going to the departure gate, found it VERY crowded. But apparently 2 flights were scheduled at the gate, and we were waved in while the Qantas passengers had to wait. Those with children were allowed to board first as usual.
GA841 was much more cramped, but the three of us got to sit together this time around. In the bright daylight, discovered that the Bandaraudara Ngurah Rai was right by the sea.

We were entertained with Just For Laughs this time round. Was fed spaghetti, or alternatively rice. Irritating kids behind was doing god-knows-what and kept bumping the seat. Was not fun especially when my back had been mysteriously hurting like crazy since morning. Wonder why, not as if I been trotting around in the backpack or something.
Flight was a little turbulent, but we got in much earlier than anticipated. However, got stuck in our seats cause it was too cramped to try to jostle with other passengers getting their bags from the overhead compartments.
Shared a cab with ZZ. Got yet another chatty uncle. He only got the point like 20min into the ride that we were too tired to wanna talk...
What was an apparent commodity however, were children. Such young young kids taught to memorise certain English phrases to sell trinkets to tourists at exorbitant prices.
You'd think that tourism help to give the people jobs, help to better their standard of living, help put food on their table, and kids in school, but hardly ever see the kids in school uniform. They are the ones that help power the tourism industry.
Suddenly thought of a pupil who had skipped school to "rest" because her stepfather had insisted she do the dishes and clean her room instead of having the maid do everything for her. So self-absorbed our kids. With their oodles of pocket-money for fast-food and the latest mobile phones. And still complaining.

Bali, Indonesia - Day III
En-route, found how there were intriguing characters from Mahabratha were brought to life at most traffic junctions.

Such a wide array of activities available at Nusa Dua. Was intrigued by the sea-walking Mas Radhi had told us about earlier. Apparently it's basically diving, but we'd be able to just walk along the ocean floor. They also have jetski, which I'd always wanted to try out. In the end, settled for glass-bottom boat ride, visit to Turtle Island then parasailing.
Mas Radhi helped us to get a better price, around SGD$50 for the whole package. Was barely SGD$20, much much cheaper parasailing there than when I was at Langkawi. There was only the three of us taking the boat. Were given bread to feed the fishes. The water's so clear! And so many corals and fishes! And the weather's so sunshiny with such clear blue skies!

Turtle Island apparently is under the protection of the

Next was parasailing. They did not have proper buckles for my life-jacket! And the "landing-strip" was so crowded. Was feeling leery this time around, but didn't intimate such to ZZ and NH, who were trying it out for the first time, NH, me thinks might have been having seconds thoughts... hehe... especially when there were people who missed the landing and went another round, people who almost landed on trees or the resting hut, people who landed straight in the waters...
I didn't dare bring up my T1 with me this time around. Was an ok experience, not as enjoyable as I got so wet trying to avoid the corals on the beach whilst going up. Was a bit dangerous actually, one part because it was so crowded with not enough space, the other because there were so many shells and corals on the beach. Didn't land on any but still landed too hard, hope the foot's not sprained.

Like the last time around, got chatted up by the guys again. ZZ who had been left all by herself, looked so relieved to see me. LOL. Had told her not to tell people we were just travelling on our own. She however did not know how to create a story to say otherwise. LOL.
Got cheesed off with one of the guys who thoght he was so funny. NH fared worse that me in the wet factor. However, NH and ZZ had brought a change of clothes and I did not. :-S
Apparently was a loooooooooong journey to our next destination. Mas Radhi estimated it to be 1.5hrs away, but we overshot our reservation by almost another hour. Restaurant was almost empty when we arrived. Food was much much more delicious than the previous day though, ZZ was especially taken by the banana fritters with vanilla dip.
It started to rain as we were finishing up. Looks like I'm not meant to be dry the whole day. We decided to go ahead as the rain frizzled into a drizzle, instead of just waiting around.
Saw a mosque further up the summit. Was comforting to see one in a majority-Hindu province.
The temple we visited was near the sea. Rain got heavier as we were roaming about. Felt like ZZ and I were Siamese twins, having to share the umbrella. ;oD
Strangely enough, the day looked so sunshiny from the pictures. No sign of rain at all!

Also passed by a group of villagers on the way back from a cremation ceremony at the temple.

The landscape we passed by was too picturesque for me to stop myself from snapping away. Mas Radhi told us that there were 2 groups of rice farmers. Those using traditional methods (4-month cycle) and New Rice (3-month cycle). The benefits of using the former includes being part of the rice association which would help in irrigation and the supply of water during the dry seasons. Hmmm... sounds dejavu from all those Geography lessons.

Next was Monkey Forest. A forest of monkeys, and apparently bats too. Did an ultra-quick tour so that we could spend more time at Tanah Lot, which Mas Radhi assured us would be much much more fantastic than anything we've visited... :)

He was right. The seaside Tanah Lot temple sits on a cliff with such a incredible view of the Indian Ocean. Luckily ZZ and me climbed down a bit too slow, as then we saw how at the certain parts, the breakers could wash in over (and perhaps WITH) us.

Was so so easy to fall down down down. Which made ZZ hesitant when I wanted to go to the other overhanging cliff, which was much much higher. My rationale was if it was really dangerous, they'd have put into place security measures, I mean it wouldn't reflect well if tourists got killed or something. Hers was simply, if you fall, there's nothing anyone could do. :/ FINE!

Mas Radhi said goodbye to us at the hotel as he's not sure whethere he'd be there to send us off to the airport the next day. We thanked him for being so accomodating. Hehe. We seem to have always messed up the schedule the past couple of days by lingering longer at some place or another.
Decided to go to the inhouse spa for a massage after showering. Felt so decadent that they even washed our feet for us! Was good. Felt so sleepy afters.
But perked up at the idea of dinner. We got even greedier. 2 dishes each tonight. Being wet the whole day have made us real hungry!
Packed as much as the stuff as possible, then set the alarm earlier than usual so I could really pack up everything.
ZZ don't seem to be faring well. Apart from her sneezing, which we've gotten used to these past couple of days, was also having a headache.
